Montana Tech 115th Commencement

Montana Tech celebrated its 115th Commencement Ceremony on Saturday, May 16, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. in the Butte Civic Center. Montana Tech graduated 539 students.

Commencement week activities began on Thursday, May 14, 2015 with graduates going through a rehearsal ceremony in preparation for Saturday. The rehearsal took place in the HPER complex at 3:00 p.m. Later Thursday evening, Montana Tech honored the members of the classes of 1950, 1955, 1960, 1970, 1975, 1980, 1985, and 1990 at the Alumni Reunion Banquet and at the Commencement Ceremony. 

On Friday evening, approximately 250 alumni and friends of Montana Tech gathered in Montana Tech’s HPER Complex for the annual Alumni Association Banquet. This event, held in honor of the graduating class of 2015, was sponsored by the Montana Tech Alumni Association.

Saturday morning kicked off with the Nursing Pinning Ceremony in the Library Auditorium at 8:30 a.m. The Montana Tech Nursing Pinning Ceremony is a symbolic welcoming of newly graduated nurses into the nursing profession. At the ceremony, 13 Associate of Science (ASN) students and 11 Bachelor of Science (BSN) students were presented with nursing pins by Montana Tech Nursing Department faculty.  Kelsiann Chauffepied, ASN student, spoke to those in attendance.

The Order of the Engineering Ring Ceremony also took place on Saturday beginning at 9:00 a.m. at the Butte Civic Center. The ceremony saw approximately 95 Montana Tech engineering students, faculty and staff participate.

At approximately 10:15 a.m. on May 16, 2015, degree candidates began assembling in the halls of the Butte Civic Center in preparation for the Commencement Ceremony. Montana Tech Foundation Board Chair and Tullow Oil Group Vice President of Safety, Sustainability and External Affairs Sandy Stash delievered the Commencement address.

A reception for graduates, family members, and friends immediately follwed the Commencement Ceremony (approximately 1:15 pm) in the annex of the Butte Civic Center.
