For nearly 100 years, the Montana Society of Engineers has provided the award to an outstanding senior graduating in engineering from Montana Tech.

Ashton will graduate in May with a degree in environmental engineering. She has been accepted into the Biological and Ecological Engineering program at Oregon State University. She will be researching bioenergy with statistical analysis. “Thank you to the Montana Society of Engineers for selecting me for this distinguished award! I am so honored to have been chosen. My academic program and professors have been vital in allowing me to achieve great things on this campus,” noted Cummings.

Brian Sullivan, with the Montana Society of Engineers, added, “The candidates this year were once again remarkable students, young adults, and future leaders. The interview team was impressed with the qualities of each candidate. To say they were very impressive is an understatement. We look forward to seeing how all of the candidates do in their professional careers. Selecting one candidate over the others was extremely difficult this year. Ashton’s ability to lead groups during her time at Montana Tech was astounding. She is focused on her path forward to Ph.D. studies over the next five years, and she is what the MSE Gold Medal Award represents.”
