Montana Tech's Mechanical Engineering Program Named One of the Top Programs in the US

Best Accredited Colleges named Montana Technological University's mechanical engineering program to their ranking list of the Best Mechanical Engineering Bachelor's Degree Programs in the United States. The university landed in the number three spot just behind Michigan Technological University and New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology.

The ranking from Best Accredited Colleges created their guide and school rankings with student education in mind. According to Best Accredited Colleges, "We considered hundreds of institutions across the country and ranked Montana Technological University using data around financial aid awards, the quality of education, faculty, campus resources, and more."

"We are pleased to be ranked among other top mechanical engineering programs," noted Jack Skinner, department head and professor of mechanical engineering at Montana Tech. "Being so highly ranked as we enter just our fifth year of ABET accreditation is an honor. Our graduates enter the mechanical engineering workforce with a high degree of technical and professional preparedness. Employers consistently tell us how impressed they are with our graduates. We have been fortunate to attract highly skilled and passionate faculty, staff, and students into our department. Our team, coupled with our world-class facilities, enable an extremely high-quality learning experience for students."

The total number of ABET-accredited mechanical engineering undergraduate programs in the United States is 393. Montana Tech's hands-on program prepares students for in-demand, high-paying careers in aerospace, manufacturing, semiconductor, HVAC, petroleum, and mining fields. Montana Tech's program boasts an 88.24 % career outcome rate. Students can focus their mechanical engineering degree on one of four areas: control systems, nanotechnology, mechanical design, and welding.
