John Metesh is the Executive Director of Critical Materials Initiatives at Montana Technological University as of September 2025 and is the interim Director of CAMP as of July 1, 2026.  John served as Director and State Geologist of the Montana Bureau of Mines (MBMG) for the past 13 years. He was previously a Research Hydrogeologist, Research Division Chief, and Assistant Director for the MBMG for a total of 36 years with the "Bureau".  He has published nearly 50 reports, articles, and abstracts related to hydrogeology and geochemistry as well as many unpublished reports relied upon for critical decisions related to legislation, natural resource damages, mine permitting/reclamation, and water rights. He is a Registered Professional Geologist (Wisconsin).
