Dave graduated from Western Montana College in May 1974 with a BS in Secondary Education. He went back to school in the late 70’s earning a BS in Environmental Engineering (May 1980) and a MS in Engineering Science (May 1981) from Montana Tech in Butte, Montana.
Dave started his career with Marathon Oil Company as an Environmental Engineer in the Rocky Mountain Region’s Cody, Wyoming office in December 1989. In 1992, he accepted a transfer to Findlay, Ohio to work on the Corporate Environmental Affairs staff as an Advanced Environmental Engineer. In 1996, Dave moved to Midland, Texas to assume the duties of HES Manager for the Mid-Continent Region’s exploration & production operations. In March 2001, Dave was transferred to Sheridan, Wyoming as the HES Manager for Marathon’s coal bed natural gas operations in the Powder River Basin. In February 2004 the position was expanded to include regulatory relations responsibility for the entire state of Wyoming. In August, 2006, Dave became a Manager of Government Affairs with responsibility for Wyoming, Colorado, North Dakota and Montana.
Prior to working for Marathon, Dave worked for three years as a chemistry and physics teacher at Stevensville High School in Stevensville, Montana. He worked for two years as a chemist for the Anaconda Mining Company in Anaconda, Montana and worked eight years as an Air Quality Engineer for the Wyoming Department of Environmental Quality in Sheridan, Wyoming.
