Biography
Bikash Mahato is a Mechanical Engineer who earned his bachelor’s degree in 2012 from West Bengal University of Technology, India, followed by a master’s and PhD from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bhubaneswar, India in 2015 and 2020, respectively.
Before joining Montana Tech, Bikash worked as a research associate at IIT Bhubaneswar and IIT Delhi from 2020 to 2021 and later served as a postdoctoral researcher at Florida State University from 2021 to 2023. His research is focused on the fundamental study of fluid mechanics. He has expertise in computational aeroacoustics, a specialized field within computational fluid dynamics. Additionally, Bikash has explored atmospheric boundary layers and studied the impact of weather conditions on smoke dispersion from wildfires.
Currently, Bikash is a postdoctoral researcher and adjunct faculty member at Montana Tech, where he focuses on research in cold spray additive manufacturing, specifically investigating particle dynamics of microjets using computational fluid dynamics (CFD) models.
