Commencement Activities Announced

Montana Tech will celebrate its 113th Commencement Ceremony on Saturday, May 18, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. in Alumni Coliseum. In the case of inclement weather, the ceremony will be moved into the HPER complex on Montana Tech’s campus. At this year’s ceremony, Montana Tech will be graduating 528 students.

Commencement week activities begin on Thursday, May 16, 2013, with the Montana Tech Alumni Reunion Banquet. Montana Tech will honor the members of the classes of 1953, 1958, 1963, 1968, 1973, 1978, 1983, and 1988 at the banquet and at the Commencement Ceremony. In attendance will be three graduates from 1953, three from 1958, five from 1963, nine from 1968, one from 1973, three from 1978, one from 1983, and one from 1988. The Alumni Reunion Banquet begins at 6:00 pm in the Frank and Ann Gilmore University Relations Center.

On Friday, May 17, Montana Tech graduates will go through a rehearsal ceremony in preparation for the ceremony on Saturday. The rehearsal will take place in the HPER complex at 3:00 pm.

Also on Friday evening, approximately 200 alumni and friends of Montana Tech will gather at the Copper King Hotel and Convention Center for the Annual Alumni Association Banquet. This event, held in honor of the graduating class of 2013, begins at 6:00 pm with no-host cocktails followed by the banquet at 7:00 pm. The cost of the dinner is $30.00 per person and reservations are available by calling 496-4402. This event is sponsored by the Montana Tech Alumni Association.

Saturday morning will kick off with the Nursing Pinning Ceremony in the Library Auditorium and the Order of the Engineering Ring Ceremony in the HPER both at 9:00 am.

The Montana Tech Nursing Pinning Ceremony is a symbolic welcoming of newly graduated nurses into the nursing profession. At the ceremony, 16 ASN and 5 BSN graduates will be presented with nursing pins by Montana Tech Nursing Department faculty. Christina Mogan, BSN student, and Azher Dunn, ASN student, will speak to those in attendance.

The Order of the Engineering Ring Ceremony will see 70 Montana Tech engineering students, faculty and staff participate in ceremony.

At approximately 10:15 am on May 18, 2013, degree candidates will begin assembling at the HPER Complex in preparation for the Commencement Ceremony, slated to begin at 11:00 am. A Gala Reception for graduates, family members, and friends will occur immediately following the Commencement Ceremony (approximately 1:15 pm) in the Student Union Building.
