Montana Tech Celebrating the Patron Saint of Engineers

Did you know that St. Patrick is the patron saint of engineers? St. Patrick is credited with fostering the development of arts and crafts and introducing the knowledge of the use of lime as mortar in Ireland.

As St. Patrick’s Day nears, Montana Tech is celebrating the patron saint of engineers and the special day. The kick-off event will be a Half Naked Run sponsored by the Montana Tech Foundation and the campus student entertainment committee. The free race will be held on Thursday, March 13 at 6 pm at the SUB. Race winners will be a part of the Montana Tech St. Patty's Day float.

Montana Tech will be selling Kiss me I'm a Digger t-shirts at the race and throughout the week in the Student Union or can be purchased by calling 496-4271. T-shirts are $10 for students and $15 for adults with all the proceeds going to the Get Home Safe Program on St. Patrick’s Day. This program allows college students to show their Digger card to the cab service and get a free ride home.

Montana Tech is also teaming up with McKenzie River Pizza (MRP) to celebrate St. Patrick, the patron saint of engineers. MacKenzie River Pizza and Montana Tech invite you to dine at MRP on Monday, March 17. Order your favorite items from their fresh, tasty menu and Montana Tech will receive a donation of 20% of the meal dollars. A voucher must be presented when settling your bill. Vouchers can be found at various locations at Montana Tech or if you mention “St. Patrick is the patron saint of engineers” you will receive a voucher. The funds donated to Montana Tech by MRP will be used to support the Tech Vision Scholarship, which helps students pursue their education at Montana Tech.
