Dr. Young Named Trustee for the American Exploration and Mining Association

Dr. Courtney Young, Department Head and Lewis S. Prater Professor of Metallurgical & Materials Engineering at Montana Tech, has been named a trustee for the American Exploration & Mining Association (AEMA), formerly known as Northwest Mining Association (NWMA). He will serve in this capacity for 3 years. AEMA is a 120 year old, 2,500 member, non-profit, non-partisan trade association based in Spokane WA. Members reside in 42 states and are actively involved in prospecting, geology, exploring, mining, metallurgy/mineral processing, equipment manufacturing and sales, technical services, and reclamation closure activities on USFS administered lands, especially in the West. AEMA’s broad membership represents a true cross-section of the American mining community from small miners and exploration geologists to both junior and large mining companies as well as academia and government. Dr. Young, of course, represents academia and metallurgy/mineral processing.
