Montana Tech Hosts Volunteer Fair on March 3

Montana Tech Career Services will sponsor the 5th Annual Montana Tech Spring Volunteer Fair on Thursday, March 3rd, 2016. This will be a great opportunity for local non-profit organizations to network with talented Montana Tech students, community volunteers and one another!

Each Volunteer Fair brings volunteers and organizations together in one convenient place. Volunteerism, an important part of the college experience, teaches students valuable lessons in community engagement and using their education to serve their communities. It also allows students to gain experience while helping community partners to address critical needs. Employers who recruit at Montana Tech look for volunteer experience on resumes.

According to their website, “As a civic leader, KLJ supports the communities we serve through sponsorships, participation in charity events, corporate matching for employee charitable contributions and strong support of employee volunteerism.” This is one example of a company recruiting at Montana Tech and the emphasis placed upon of volunteerism. Several students have confirmed this with comments and photo contest submissions demonstrating involvement in charitable events during summer internships in a variety of industries.

“This is important for our office to stress to students that volunteering makes a difference in the community where you live,” says Sarah Raymond, Director of Career Services. “Whether this helps a student to develop skills, meet new people or clarify career goals, it is an invaluable experience. This event is simply the right thing to do!”

The Volunteer Fair on March 3rd will be held from 11 AM – 1 PM in the Montana Tech Student Union Building (SUB) Lobby. This free event for non-profit organizations, community volunteers, students, and campus and community members. Organizations can register by calling 406-496-4140. Whether or not you can attend the fair, you can reach Montana Tech students online regarding any opportunities within your organization. Post these as volunteer jobs through DIGGERecruiting.
