Biography
Julie Hart joined the faculty in the Safety, Health and Industrial Hygiene Department at Montana Tech in the fall of 2000. Prior to her faculty appointment, Julie worked in industry in a variety of health and safety positions including corporate health and safety auditor, senior safety advisor, industrial hygienist, and radiation safety officer. Julie is a graduate of Montana Tech with a B.S. in Occupational Safety and Health and an M.S. in Industrial Hygiene. She is a Certified Industrial Hygienist and recently completed her Ph.D. in Toxicology at The University of Montana.
Julie’s teaching responsibilities include industrial hygiene II – physical hazards, industrial ventilation, noise, radiological health and safety, and advanced industrial toxicology. Julie has been active in numerous research projects at Montana Tech and has demonstrated a promising publication record. These projects include work in industrial noise evaluation and control, employee exposure assessments, and public and occupational health risk assessments associated with Libby amphiboles. Julie was recognized as the Distinguished Industrial Hygienist by the Pacific Northwest Section of the American Industrial Hygiene Association in 2009. In addition, Julie received a Montana Tech Alumni Recognition Award in recognition of her professional accomplishments in 2011.
Julie’s recreational interests include mountain biking and skiing in the mountains of Montana.
