Resources

Types of Work

Montana Tech has numerous student positions available. Student positions fall into two categories:

  • Work-Study
  • Institutional Positions

Work-study is part of a total financial aid offer based on financial need. The work-study offer is the maximum that may be earned during a school year while employed at Montana Tech.

Institutional positions are part-time student jobs funded entirely by a department and may be available if you do not qualify for work-study funds.

Finding a Job

Montana Tech has a wide variety of student positions, which are available in nearly every academic and administrative department on campus.

On-campus jobs are posted through Career Services in DR2.0. Once a position of interest is found, complete the application process. After a decision to hire is made, supervisors will notify the student(s) selected as well as those not selected.

Paperwork

Once you are hired, both you and the supervisor must complete the Montana Tech Student Employment Certification.

Please note * To work as a student employee, you must be registered in at least six (6) credits per semester and in good academic standing.

If you have worked on campus as a student employee within the last two years, you are not required to complete the New Student Employee Packet again. Contact Student Employment at studentemployment@mtech.edu or 406-496-4223 if you are unsure or have any questions.

If you are new to student employment, you must pick up the Student Employment Packet in Enrollment Services, SSC 3.126 where the forms, policy, and procedures will be explained. Contact student employment at studentemployment@mtech.edu or 406-496-4223 if you are unsure or have any questions.

Please make sure that all documents are completed and signed to avoid processing delays. If more information is needed, we will reach out to you via email about the required documents. Student employees are not allowed to begin work until all necessary paperwork is complete and turned in.
