Montana Tech Chancellor Don Blackketter and Vice Chancellor for Development and University Relations Joe McClafferty announced today the naming of Charles Bradley as the next Director of Athletics at Montana Tech.
Bradley will assume the role on May 15, 2013 replacing Joe McClafferty, who served as the AD since 2006 but recently transitioned into the role of Vice Chancellor. “Throughout Charles' life, he has been a pioneer and I look forward to the bright future he will bring to Montana Tech,” announced McClafferty.
“I would like to thank Chancellor Blackketter for the opportunity to be a part of Montana Tech,” said Bradley. “I look forward to overseeing the greatness of the Oredigger Athletic program. My family and I are excited to join the Butte community.
Bradley is a former college and professional athlete as well as a college coach. He began his college career as a student-athlete at the University of Wyoming where he received many honors: All American, Academic All American, and dean’s list. After graduating, he was selected in the first round of the NBA draft by the Boston Celtics. After completing his career with the Celtics, Bradley went on to coach at the college level for approximately 16 years. He then branched off and spent time in the business world holding executive positions with UPS and Black Sands Holding before vending on his own building two companies, Charles W. Bradley and Associates, LLC and then Protect and Serve Driving Academy.
“Charles brings with him a wealth of fundraising and administrative experience,” explained Chancellor Blackketter. “Charles has a passion for athletics and first-hand knowledge of what it takes to be a student-athlete. The Montana Tech and the Butte community will enjoy Charles and his family and the excitement they are bringing”
Bradley holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Elementary Education from the University of Wyoming and is currently pursuing a master’s degree in Administration Education. Prior to taking the Athletic Director position at Montana Tech, Charles was working in development for the basketball program at Mesa Community College.
Charles and his wife Suzanne have four grown daughters, Taryn, Alexa, Brynn, and Kiah.
