Montana Tech Professor to Quantify the Accuracy of Battery Testing System for Ford

Dr. John Morrison, professor in the Electrical Engineering Department at Montana Tech, has been selected to be a participant under Cooperative Agreement No. DE-AR000267, with Ford Motor Company and DOE ARPA-E.  The funding to support Montana Tech is $108,000, which will include efforts to assist Ford in developing a battery test system.

“We are very excited and thankful for the opportunity to work with the Ford Motor Company and Department of Energy on this project,” noted Morrison.  Dr. Morrison’s research team will develop necessary algorithms for quantifying the accuracy of the battery testing system.  Such algorithms are critical in comprehending the validity and accuracy of battery tests.  Mr. Josh Wold, a visiting instructor and researcher at Montana Tech, along with graduate students will assist Dr. Morrison in the work.
