Toys for Tots Drive Successful on Montana Tech Campus

The Montana Tech Veterans Group would like to thank all those who donated to the 2014 Toys for Tots drive held on campus in December. “Without the generosity from our faculty, staff, students, clubs and community members, we would not have been able to collect the amount of toys we did this year,” noted Mike Hall, AmeriCorps Veterans Vista. “We really want to brighten a child’s spirit this Christmas. We are hopeful all children in our community receive a gift on Christmas morning.”

The 2014 campaign on campus collected approximately 25-40 toys. Thus far, the Marine Corps Detachment 724 has collected approximately 1,500-2,000 toys helping approximately 1,500 local and surrounding families this Christmas. According to the Marine Corps League, this year including all pick-up points, the amount of donations has doubled compared to last year.

The mission of the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots Program is to collect new, unwrapped toys during October, November and December each year, and distribute those toys as Christmas gifts to needy children in the local community in which the campaign is conducted.
