Layne Sessions has served as the Director of Facilities since February of 2020. Sessions came to Montana Tech with 28 years of experience in higher education facilities, working for Sodexo (Marriott – Sodexo Marriott). Over the last 20 years, he has served as a Director of Facilities at Ripon College and Marian University in Wisconsin, Lyon College in Arkansas, and Sierra Nevada University in Nevada. He has obtained certification through IFMA as a Facilities Management Professional. Sessions earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Plant Administration from Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah. He and his wife Carrie are living in Butte and have four adult children and a handful of grandchildren.

Ron Sherman

Ron Sherman has served as the Assistant Director / Custodial Manager for the Facilities department since November, 2024. He came to the Montana Technological University with over 25 years of experience, working for school districts and universities in facilities management for over 25 years. He worked for Marriott/Sodexo and Aramark as a senior manager at Plano ISD (Texas), Granbury ISD (Texas), and St. Edwards University. He also did some work at Leander ISD (Texas), Southern Methodist University, and Texas State University. Most recently, he ran his own cleaning company specializing in commercial cleaning services with a focus on event venues and floorcare such as hardwood floors, VCT restoration, and carpets. He has a Bachelor’s of Science in Business Administration, and a second Bachelor’s of Science in Human Resource Management from Colorado Technical University. He and his wife married in 2012 and have a combined (7) children and (8) grandkids!
