Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 and the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990, along with its 2008 amendments, establish the requirements that information technology procured, developed, and used by postsecondary institutions must be accessible to individuals with disabilities. Together these statutes require that campus offerings be available to all students, faculty, staff, and visitors for whom they are designed, including individuals with disabilities. (This does included tools made available through applications software, websites, videos, PDF files, and other IT.)
