TECHxpo is a campus-wide event where students exhibit their research and design projects that they have been working on throughout the year.  Student projects are separated by degree areas and are judged by industry professionals.  Students can choose to do either an exhibit or a poster.  Cash prizes are awarded to the top winners in each degree area in addition to the top campus awards.

2018 WERC International Design Team Competition

Las Cruces, New Mexico

WERC is a consortium of universities and scientific labs focusing on energy. Federally funded, with a mandate to educate as well as perform research, consisting of 20-25 colleges and universities such as Mesa Community College to MIT, Stanford, Cal-Poly. Tasks are distributed in September with reports due mid-March. The contest is held in early April and it requires:

• Report
• Bench scale model
• Oral presentation
• Poster presentation
• Bench scale model resonation to the judges

The Design Team adheres to the following development process:

• Research problems and current solutions
• Interact with faculty and community scientists
• Brainstorm within the team
• Plan and build bench scale models and testing them
• Raise funds for the tasks and trip
